My Bondage and My Freedom

Book name: My Bondage and My Freedom

Author: Antoine D. Thurston

MY TAKE:

The book is about mental illness and the causes of bullying. The author wrote about the gloomy phase of his life where he tried to kill himself, hated God for not listening to him and abused god to a point where he wanted to kill God. The author was bullied because of being overweight a lot by the people around him, he was also addicted to a few things (not drugs) which made him hate himself even more.

The ending brought a lot of peace to me, I love the author's perspective towards the God and how later he started trusting him and devoted his whole life to him. I think the book is too short, I really wish the content was a little more circumstantial. Also, I think the author could have present it in a better way because the content is great it's just that it needs that wow factor. This book is quite motivating and it helps you to love yourself and it also hypes you up as brownie points. I think the book should be read by parents, it will help them understand a teenagers dilemma. Also, this book is great for people suffering from mental illness because it will give them the strength to fight their situation.

My favorites:

So, while reading this book I realized that there were certain saying that hit me somewhere deep inside. So, I wanted to share my favorites ones with you guys. Okay! So, here we go:

“I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.” John says, Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”

"Experiencing freedom will require you to do a few things. First, believe that you can be free! Faith must be activated in order to receive it. If you have any doubt, God will help your unbelief by proving His power".

AUTHOR TALKS:

My name is Antoine Thurston and I am a minister and ordained Elder. I love going to the gym, doing personal development by reading books, and I love cartoons. During this pandemic, I've done a lot of reflection and self-evaluation, made adjustments and now I'm starting new projects. My book, " My Bondage and My Freedom: From the Mental Institution to the Pulpit "is a memoir on how I suffered from low self-esteem and depression. I was an avid addict to pornography and later became exposed to witchcraft which lead to multiple baker acts into mental institutions and suicidal attempts. I thought God betrayed me and didn't love me, but He did. The wrong perception can damage and destroy. God delivered me from the plague of my sins as I turned back to the Lord in remorse and a sincere desire to change; therefore, I surrendered to Him.

BLURB:

I am very wary of the decadence of this world. It is completely heartbreaking to witness firsthand how much hope is crumbling, morals are deteriorating, and people all over this world are committing suicide. There is not enough empowerment, motivation, and inspiration being shared to help those who are in a dark place to break free into the light. Millions of people are desperately seeking to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and this book was written to help these individuals find it. This book will help believers and unbelievers understand that Jeremiah 29:11 is in fruition. God has a plan for their lives despite the bondage that they are in. I also want readers to see the frailty of our morals so that we may run to God for salvation. Each reader will learn that sin is atrocious; it's debilitating, it's a spiritual anesthetic, and it incapacitates us mentally, visually, emotionally, and physically. This book will also assist those who will receive, to understand that sometimes, our reality is just a distorted mental perception, like a broken mirror; the image is distorted. Some people live their life looking into a broken mirror and are building it off of that perception. This book will help these individuals escape this way of life and adapt to one that is more positive and realistic. This book will also assist readers with the power of self-evaluation and acknowledgment of one’s current condition. Denial keeps a person in bondage; however, if a person decides to face the errors and bad decisions that they have made, take full responsibility for their actions, God will move on their behalf. Despite our moral failures, God is merciful. He's a redemptive God that can and will restore the years that we have lost. God loves us, and he is still in control, even when our lives are out of control. God has a purpose for our lives! Through my experiences and victories, each reader will gain a new sense of hope for God and their own lives. I have survived many things in my life because of my ability to face it and embrace God’s love and purpose for my life. This book is about my life; it encourages me to go forward, and I believe that it will do the same for those who are led to read it. It is filled with my personal testimonies of how life almost devoured me, and how God stepped in and covered me. Freedom lives in this book. It is the very epitome of how someone can lose all hope and be led astray, but then find out how much God loves them and be redeemed.
