Book Name: Simone LaFray and the Chocolatiers' Ball
Author: S.P. O'farrell
Rating: 4.2/5
MY TAKE:
- This is a middle-grade fiction, a story about a 12-year-old spy named Simone. She is assigned a task to catch a Thief called "red Fox".she balances both her work and personal life perfectly and we all need to learn that from her. I love the backdrop of the story and I think it is suitable for all age groups but mainly teens.
The plot of the book is like the queen of the chessboard game -complete game changer! The story has a mystic taste and the imprints of a Spy Thriller. There are just a few books that I felt hooked to from the very beginning and this book is one such book. The story very beautifully explores its theme, the language is quite easy-going and facile. There were a lot of learnings in this book like the father-daughter relationship, how the protagonist balances her family and work, and how she takes care of her younger sister and that is what makes this book so perfect to me. This is the best book I have read this month and it's should be read by the younger audience. This what we call true good quality and engaging content. I'm REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO READ MORE OF O'Farrell WORK.
WHY YOU SHOULD READ THIS BOOK:
-The nail-biting thriller experience which I got by reading this book is unexplainable.
-The characters are well dressed and very impactful.
- The rather father-daughter relationship is very adorable.
- The story set in France so you get to learn a lot of french greetings.
- The story is very motivational for the younger audience.
MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS:
- SIMONE
Simone is a soul full of joy and happiness that can comfort everyone, her ability to guide the readers through her strong woman impression- a person wiser than her actual age is fantastic. She is humorous, brilliant, charming and not some ordinary 12 year old. Simone’s concealed life is crumbling, the shop hangs in the balance. I am so impressed by her character that I can't wait to read more about her in the next book from the series.
- MIA
Mia is Simone's little sister. I quite like her character, she is one of those characters who can easily grab attention and can't be left unnoticed- quite unique I must say. Tho she is the exact opposite of Simone still I was equally impressed by the rawness of her character.
ABOUT THE BOOK AND AUTHOR:
S.P. O'Farrell wrote "Simone LaFray and the Chocolatiers' Ball" over the course of two and a half years, after a particularly inspiring bowl of bouillabaisse on a family vacation. The majority was written after all were tucked in, the lights were low, and the mind was free to wander. Mr. O'Farrell lives in the northeastern United States with his wife Emily, sons Patrick and Michael, and their ever-dozing Labrador, Scout.
Simone leads a double life.
As a covert agent, she walks in the footprints of her spy mother, darting between the shadows. If she’s not sleuthing, she’s icing eclairs and dusting pastries in her father’s patisserie.
When a notorious thief returns to Paris, the patisserie is threatened, and Simone questions everything. She and her father must participate in the exclusive Chocolatiers’ Ball to redeem themselves and catch the thief. Simone’s concealed life is crumbling, the shop hangs in the balance . . . and now she needs a ball gown!
Life in a French patisserie may not be as sweet as she thought.
